Baskets & Flowers II

Baskets & Flowers II is another beautiful variation of a traditional pieced quilt design. Measuring 55" x 68", this fat quarter friendly quilt features a variety of six basket blocks with six flower blocks. Our sample quilt used fabrics provided by Timeless Treasures, but this simple pieced design would look great in any color combination. Stay warm this winter wrapped in our Baskets & Flowers II quilt.

Measuring 60" x 78", Baskets & Flowers is our variation of a traditional quilt design. Featuring 12 basket blocks & six flower blocks, you can add variety to your quilt by using a different fabric to sash each pieced block. Fat quarter friendly, we used 6-8 different fabrics from Timeless Treasures for our baskets & 1-2 more for the flowers. Wrap a piece of the garden around you for warmth & comfort with this Baskets & Flowers quilt.

Wild Goose Chase
Through the Cabins

There are two variations to this Wild Goose Chase Through the Cabins design, both incorporating Flying Geese blocks & Log Cabin blocks. The main cover quilt (Variation 1) measures 64" x 88" & has 35 traditional Log Cabin blocks separated by sets of four Flying Geese blocks & quarter-square triangle corners. Measuring 64" square, Variation 2 (shown on inset of large image; lower right) has Courthouse Steps Log Cabin blocks set inside a Wild Goose Chase block with traditional Log Cabin blocks forming the border. Both variations are scrappy quilts, but could easily be sewn with a more planned fabric scheme.

Night in the Forest features trees & stars - lots of stars - against a dark blue background & sewn to look like they are floating in the sky. Measuring 67" x 90", this pieced design includes directions for three different star blocks. For our cover quilt we used 12 Evening Stars, 14 Friendship Stars & 10 Ohio Stars, though you can design your own star blocks if you like. Fat quarter friendly, Night in the Forest uses eight different tree fabrics & seven different star fabrics.

Prairie Stars

Two different sized stars and the Courthouse Steps Log Cabin block combine to make this 60" x 84" quilt. Each of the two different blocks is colored half light and half dark and, when the blocks are sewn together, resemble the Straight Furrows variation of the Log Cabin. Use darker fabrics for a more antique look reminiscent of life on the prairie or use brighter fabrics for a more traditional or contemporary look.

This quilt has many different pinwheel blocks set in a pinwheel lattice. Directions are included for ten different pinwheel blocks. Sew them all or just pick your favorite ones. The pattern includes directions for two different sizes, 76" x 100" and 52" square. Choose traditional fabrics or flannels for a cozy look and feel or use Bali fabrics for a more contemporary look.

 

Nine Patch Seasons

With directions for two sizes & full-size applique patterns for all four seasonal themes, this traditional Nine Patch offers a variety of choices. Available in twin size (65.5" x 91") or as a large lap quilt (60.5" x 73.5"), this pattern has birdhouses & flowers, presents & stockings, stars or leaves available to applique on the border vine for the seasonal theme. We used 7-10 different fabrics for the nine patches & applique in our sample quilt. Add the binding & a label and enjoy your Nine-Patch Seasons, whichever one you choose!

Measuring 64" x 80", there are four different Log Cabin blocks in this original quilt design. There are 12 rounds of logs in each block & by choosing which block or fabrics to use, there are many variations & layouts you can choose from besides the one used in our sample quilt. Pick just one or two of the blocks or make a scrap quilt - the choice is yours & the possibilities are endless. Just use your creativity & let your imagination go!

Adding a new dimension to Log Cabin quilts, My Home Town is sewn from two different Log Cabin blocks: the house block & the tree block. In addition, each block has a flower & a star pieced into the logs. Directions are given for a 35-block quilt top (60" x 84"), a 48-block twin size (72" x 96"), 72-block queen size (96" x 108") and an 81-block king size (108" square).

This unique pieced design features Ohio Star blocks with Chimney & Cornerstones Log Cabin blocks. Measuring 60" x 84" (twin size), this quilt pattern includes suggestions for several quilt top layouts as well as directions for additional sizes; 96" x 108" (double/queen) and 108" square (king). The twin size quilt uses 24 different fabrics, the double uses 27 and the king size quilt uses 30 different fabrics.

Measuring 71" x 88", this quilt requires pre-planning before any sewing can be done. Featuring 31 different star blocks, 32 border blocks, 32 - 9" Courthouse Steps Log Cabin blocks & four border corner blocks, you must determine the placement of contrasting fabrics before you start. The stars & courthouse steps use 15 different fabrics, while the borders use five different fabrics. Using a variety of techniques, including paper foundation piecing, this star-filled quilt makes a great class project!
